Selection Process (Tryouts)

- Tryouts will be scheduled by the SDFC Directors with the approval of the club President

- One primary tryout date will be scheduled in mid-April along with a rain date.

- Children qualified to play in age groups from U7 to U14 for the following fall-spring Seasons are eligible to participate in tryouts.

- The Primary Tryout will be evaluated by independent SDFC evaluators under the supervision of the Director of Coaching. The evaluators will be selected by the Director of Coaching

- During the primary tryout, technical and match condition skills are evaluated. Multiple evaluation criteria are used to score every player’s abilities. Current team coaches can be present at the tryout.

- Coaches may hold "call back” tryouts within 2 weeks of the primary tryout to evaluate additional players and give players who attended the primary tryout another opportunity to display his/her skills prior to the selection of teams.

- Call backs may be held by individual teams with team coaches evaluating and selecting the players only with the approval of the Director of Coaching and the Selection Committee.

- All interested players are required to tryout and must attend at least one tryout session.

- Players currently on an SDFC team are not guaranteed a spot on a team for the following season.

- Players may try out for a maximum of two (2) age groups if desired.

- Coaches and the Director of Coaching will select teams within one week of the completion of tryouts.

- Selection Letters must be sent to successful candidates by the coach after the completion of team selections.

- Letters to unsuccessful candidates will be sent by the Coach at the conclusion of team selections.
